It gets its name in how brooms are used to while the concrete is still wet to give it it’s distinct texture. While this is the most economical option, broom finished driveways are also popular due to their strong traction as well as being able to be used as a base for in conjunction with some of the other options we’ll be mentioning.
Sand Washed Finish
If you love the idea of the varied colors of exposed aggregate but want the smooth texture of broom finish, sand washed concrete might just be what you’re looking for. By sand washing, you’re allowing the aggregate to be exposed while still avoiding the pebbly texture that some try to avoid. Before we install this sort of driveway, we go over your available options for colors and patterns, so you get a truly unique driveway that suits your personality and overall home design.
Exposed Aggregate Concrete Finish
This is where we start to get a bit more creative. Exposed aggregate concrete is essentially created by pouring then stripping away the plain surface, allowing for much of the stone to be completely exposed. This is more expensive than a broom finish and requires different maintenance, but the payoff is a much more beautiful result with various textures and colors depending on the type of a used stone used. The added grip the texture provides is a great utility bonus.
Stamped Concrete Finish
This last category of finishes really shows off how versatile concrete driveways can really be! If you’ve ever seen cobblestone, brick or even slate driveways, you’ve no doubt seen how stunning they can be, but at a great cost. These are wonderful options aesthetically, though they quickly become a nightmare to keep up. With our stamped concrete option, we can recreate both the color and textures of these and other materials, giving you the best of both worlds.
